Frozen Pipes, Water Damage in Mount Kisco
To save money, this unoccupied home in Mount Kisco was not heated during a cold snap. The water expanded as it froze and split the pipes within the walls, several different rooms. Once thawed, pressurized water spewed out and soaked the hardwood flooring, trim work, and lower level of sheetrock. The After Photo depicts the efforts by our SERVPRO WRT water damage restoration technicians to minimize the demolition needed during the restoration phase of this job. We managed to salvage the plywood subflooring and performed "flood cuts" at the two-foot mark to simplify the eventual reinstallation of drywall panels. The exposed cavities and sheathing were sprayed with an antifungal agent to inhibit mold spores, always present in structures, from developing and creating a new problem. We are here to help our neighbors.
